A charity walk featuring children's fancy dress and the raising of lots of money for charity took place this week with record numbers of participants.
Meningitis UK hosted the eight-day Walk of Roses from Blackpool to Bridlington, with the last leg of 14 miles featuring a number of locals from Bridlington and Driffield, reports Nafferton Today.
The event was held by the charity to raise money for its 'Search 4 a Vaccine' campaign, which aims to develop a vaccine for the life-threatening disease.
Elyse McLeod, aged 16, donned fairy dress for the occasion. She told the paper: "I am so pleased to be doing this walk and I never expected so many of my friends to join in too. I'm aiming to raise £5,000 for the charity so hopefully everyone will be feeling generous."
Local organisation Driffield Rotary Club kindly donated £300 to the appeal.
This weekend thousands of runners will be putting their best feet forward for charity when they compete in the 10km Greater Manchester Run.
