Gainsborough's Emma to sport princess dress for festival 15th May 2008

 |
A new royal addition to Gainsborough has been selected to represent the town at its annual Riverside Festival.
The exciting event, due to take place on the weekend of June 7th, will feature a wealth of entertainment including a European Market, Chinese food tasting, a mini-Olympics and an Oriental themed procession, reports the Gainsborough Standard.
And Emma Marsh will be donning princess dress for the occasion, as she takes the regal title after being voted in by readers of the paper.
The lucky eight-year-old will be assisted by runner-up Hannah Preston, aged nine.
She told the paper: "I can't wait to help out the princess for the day and I am looking forward to taking part in the parade."
Over the next few weeks a number of workshops have been organised to help the town prepare for the community extravaganza, for people to make props, costumes, banners, flags and sculptures for the procession.
Redditch Carnival will take place this weekend, featuring a queen and princess in a horse-drawn carriage.
