Girls run the race for life in fairytale dresses 19th May 2008
Little girls in fairytale dresses were just some of the runners taking part in this weekend's 2008 Race for Life, reports the Evening Post.
The newspaper states that over 7,500 people took part in the Bristol race to raise money for Cancer Research UK and that many did it in fancy dress.
Lots of young girls wore a fairy dress and stripy legging combination and ran alongside older women who donned pink wigs.
Jane Maggs, a 20-year-old from Brislington, explained to the newspaper that she was running in memory of her grandmother who died from lung cancer.
"I really enjoyed the run and there was so much support," she said. "We were walking and one of the marshals shouted that George Clooney was waiting for us at the end. A smile definitely went on a few faces then!"
Last year, around 665,000 women took part in the 5 km Race for Life, raising £40 million for the charity.
